Linn-Benton Baseball Storm Past Chemeketa
ALBANY, Oregon – The Linn-Benton Baseball team defeated Chemeketa Community College in both
games of their doubleheader 8-0, and 6-0 on Sunday, Feb. 27. Game 2 of the doubleheader was
called early in the sixth inning , due to rainy weather.
The Roadrunners improved to 4-0 on the season, and the Chemeketa Storm fell to 0-4 on the season.
“Very excited to get the first win out of the way. Everyone has been itching the last 8 months and they came out ready to play, lots of stuff to clean up, but excited to get back out next week,” Roadrunner Head Coach Andy Peterson said.
The Roadrunners complete the doubleheader sweep on Sunday, thanks to two strong pitching performances from Kian Hogan, Boone Rush, and a red-hot beaks offense.
Hogan threw 7 strikeouts to go along with 6 scoreless innings in game 1. Rush pitched 5 scoreless innings, only allowing two hits in game two of the doubleheader. Ruben Cedillo recorded 4 doubles in boh games combined, including a bases clearing 3 RBI double in game one.
“Yesterday I was trying to do too much, and today I made the adjustments to be more simple. It helps that people are on base for me and I can go do my thing,” Cedillo said.
Next up the Roadrunners travel to take on Spokane Community College and Umpqua Community College on Saturday, March. 5. Game one first pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. and game two first pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. at W Stewart Park Dr, Roseburg, OR.
