Seattle Mariners Game
The Seattle Mariners finished their season on Sunday against the Angels with a 7-3 loss. The Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays entered Sunday only 1 game back from the second wild card spot. They entered the game not only needing a win, but also a loss from either the Boston Red Sox or New York Yankees. A loss from either of those teams and a win from the Mariners would force a three and possible four team tiebreaker game for the two wildcard spots. With all this anticipation going into the game it ended the way many experts predicted from the start of the season, with the Mariners missing the playoffs. Although, they fell just short of beating all the odds and making the playoffs for the first time since 2001, there are more positives than negatives that came from this season. The Mariners bolster the 5th youngest team in the MLB with young rising stars like Ty France and Kyle Lewis. The season brought a breakout season from Mitch Haniger and a bullpen with the 8th best ERA in the league. The future looks very bright for Seattle, but adding more offensive weapons will need to become a priority if Seattle wants to finally get over their 20 year postseason drought. The Mariners finished the season 90-72.
